On a Cat

Arching its back beneath canopy of leaves,
It captures my eyes with the suppleness of silk
Just as was done by a squirrel and a dove
And fuel those dreams of an Ovidian change,
Here beneath asphalted clouds that'll cloak
Saplings in need of their sun.

Wiping my face with dog-tired paws,
I glance at the saucers of milk in my fridge
And musing on doctrines of karma and its breed
Sigh from the cells of my lobes.

Ah..i Wonder why you suddenly chose to write on a cat...but i liked it. specially the dog tired paws...:-)
on a more serious note, i had once, when i was young, come across a poem of Eliot's called Macavity the Mystery Cat..your poem, though much different in texture, tone and theme, brings to my mind that one...maybe its because your reverence for the great man.

Well Eliot actually has an entire books of poems on Cats and that was also the source of the famous Broadway musical CATS.But my immediate inspiration in this case was Ramanujan.
